~The Getaway~

After a very relaxing weekend getaway, I am refreshed, energized and excited to take on all planned and even unplanned tasks that I might face for this upcoming week. During my restful weekend, I asked myself, “How can I keep this spectacular feeling of relaxation with me throughout the week?” My plan…well, I plan to stay focused and keep my mind centered on the beautiful sites and scenery that I was able to observe while I was away! I plan to hone in on my positive thoughts and cherish the memories that I created during my down time. Keeping such amazing thoughts at the forefront of my mind, will surely make for yet another successful week in my life! Try your absolute best to stay positive and focused throughout your week as well!

There is something so serene about being in a calm state. The feeling of being at ease is one of the most rewarding feelings, I must admit. During this peaceful state of mind, a person is able to think clearly, make rational decisions, process feedback from others and so on. Ah, the beautiful feeling of tranquility. I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Well, how do you get to the state of calmness one might ask. It’s quite simple. Clear your thoughts. Clear your mind. Clear your spirit and simply…relax.

The first few minutes may be very difficult. You might feel as though you could be completing many other daunting tasks, but be patient and focus in on the thought that you deserve your downtime too. Be of the mindset that your wellbeing is controlled by you. Make your way to your beautiful, tranquil place. By doing so, you will be one step closer in your journey, on the road to obtaining your peace…

Spring has arrived and what an exciting time to switch subject matters!!!

Now that we have built a strong foundation for ourselves through meditation, let us center our focus towards helping others. As we know, there are so many things going on in this world (both positive and negative), that it can become extremely difficult to wrap our heads around certain situations. I have found that there are people everywhere who genuinely need support; and I am not speaking on financial support. I have discovered that people are in dier need of something as simple as…get this…A HUG!! There are people who could use a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, or someone to simply be of company to them as they sit in silence and ponder on life. I am always delighted to extend my time to others in those regards. Spreading your positive words, thoughts and spirit with people can be such a rewarding gesture. Most often times, it instills a sense of hope in those who may have thought that all hope had been lost in their lives. For me personally, I feel rejuvenated anytime I can be of positive service to anyone in my community who may need support. I also feel an overwhelming sense of joy when others take it upon themselves to support me and my journey towards maintaining my peace. It is a beautiful thing to experience the amazing feeling of people gathering together for laughs, positivity and love. Those attributes contribute greatly to our health and daily well being.

So I would like to leave you with the motivation of challenging yourself to lend a helping hand to those around you. Be it a close friend, relative or stranger…take the time to share a smile or whatever positive gesture you choose with them. Keep in mind that your beautiful smile just might be someone’s saving grace. Applying this kindness in everyday life is definitely a start to shaping positive relationships in our world.

Here we are now and several weeks have passed. If you read and followed my article here on RELAXING YOUR MIND THROUGH MEDITATION, it is my deepest hope that you have found yourself in a relaxing state of mind as you maneuver through your day to day activities. Continue to stay consistent with your meditation practices each day.

Do your best to approach the subject of meditation as something that is going to advance you towards positive growth in your life as opposed to another task that you have to complete for the day. Slow and very steady wins the race here. Prepare your mind to give meditating your all!! The more positive energy you exert into this spiritual period, the better the outcome will be.

I simply wanted to share this brief encouraging message with you. Take your time to meditate as you are building your strength and momentum to prepare yourself for helping those around you.

Do you ever become mentally overwhelmed by the amount of tasks you have to complete on your daily to-do list? Do you find yourself feeling as though there are not enough hours in the day to collect your thoughts and have a sense of peace? This short and simple 3 day plan for RELAXING YOUR MIND THROUGH MEDITATION, will give you a jump start to developing mental focus via meditation and enhancing your relationship with God, through His divine Word!

By definition, to meditate is to “think deeply or focus one’s mind for a period of time, in silence or with the aid of chanting, for religious or spiritual purposes or as a method of relaxation.”

The art of meditation is a powerful resource that we all have access to. Once we allow ourselves to delve into this method of relaxation, it will provide us with a sense of relief from any turmoil that we may be experiencing at a particular moment in time.

In my original blog post DISCOVERING YOU, I briefly touched on meditating and how starting with 30 minutes of meditation each day could eventually expand into extended periods of meditation and peaceful thinking. I received many wonderful responses from individuals who were in a sound place with their daily meditations! They found meditation to be very effective and highly beneficial to their everyday lives. I applaud those individuals for taking such vital steps towards meaningful meditation periods each day! Conversely, there were several other people who were eager to begin daily meditation sessions, but they were not quite sure how to start and how to stay consistent. For those people, I will share my top 3 suggestions for daily meditations.

Day 1/Suggestion 1- Schedule at least 3 mandatory meditation periods per day. When I started meditating many, many years ago, I was under the impression that a few quick minutes of down time each day would keep me energized, high-spirited, and ready to change the world!! My goodness was I incorrect. Initially, I would have stressful and overwhelming meditation sessions. I would not give myself enough time to meditate and I would enter into meditation sessions with a laundry list of things I wanted to focus on and there was not one thing that was relaxing about that. I decided to break meditating down in 3 simple increments and I would like to encourage you to do the same. First, be proactive about meditating first thing each morning before you exit your bed, then during the afternoon/midday and finally in the evening before you drift off to sleep. During each session, focus on the silence in the room and clear your mind of everything. Close your eyes, and center your thoughts towards positive things and people who matter to you. Challenge yourself to hold your thoughts on those positive things only, without allowing your thought processes to shift outside of that. If by chance you begin to ponder on your busy daily schedule or to-do list…take a brief moment to regroup your thoughts and focus back in on a clear mindset. Sounds relaxing right?! It certainly is. I too, went through these steps and at this period in my life, meditation comes naturally to me all throughout the day and that makes for beautiful resting for my soul.

On this day, open your meditation period up with this prayer- Father God, please open my heart, soul and mind up to You. Give me a receptive spirit to hear Your Word and to apply the instructions that You give me to my daily life. Please clear my mind and allow me to focus and meditate on Your Word. I appreciate YOU and I thank you. Amen.

Read and study scriptures from Joshua Chapter 1 vs. 1-9 prior to today’s meditation period.

Meditate for 30 minutes after scripture reading.
Day 2/Suggestion 2- During your 3 daily meditation periods, make the sessions all about you. There is a significant importance to devoting this time to ourselves. Please ensure that you are listening to your entire body (mentally, physically, and spiritually) and honing in on exactly what it is saying to you. Most often times in our lives and professions, we devote our time to helping others and giving a significant amount of our time to other individuals which is wonderful; however on occasion, we tend to neglect ourselves by not investing the appropriate amount of downtime into our lives. Make this time all about you until you have mastered it.

On this day open your meditation period up with this prayer -Dear God, as I prepare to meditate, please give me the strength and ability to continue to study Your Word and peacefully move forward through my day. Will you guide me and lead me through the path that you would like for me to go? Please continue to clear my mind as I work so diligently to come closer to You. I thank you Father. Amen.

Read and study scriptures from Psalm Chapter 19 vs. 1-14 prior to today’s meditation period.

Meditate for 30 minutes after scripture reading.
Day 3/ Suggestion 3- Look forward to the next planned meditation session. For your health and well being, give yourself something positive to look forward to in your next meditation session. Once you are near a state of completion in meditation, start to transition your thoughts to focus on how you are feeling. Embrace the calmness and serene state that you are in. Lock those positive thoughts and feelings in and look forward to enhancing them at your next meditation time. This is bound to keep you motivated throughout your day.

Open today’s meditation session by sharing a special prayer created by you, with God.

Read and study scriptures from Philippians Chapter 4 vs. 1-9, prior to today’s meditation period.
***Continue to meditate each day moving forward.***

Amen, amen and AMEN!! I will continue to keep you in my prayers. My prayers are for the safety and security for you and your family; for your continued receptive spirit to God’s Word; for your consistency to seek HIM out as you continue a positive and peaceful relationship with Him, and for your strength and ability to continue to share HIS Word with all who surround you and more. My prayer for everyone this year, is that we understand, respect and appreciate the value of each and every person in our lives. That we cherish each and every day and live it with the understanding that it is gifted to us by God…it is a luxury to be afforded the time that we have in our lives. Use your time wisely and always thank God. Many blessings to you as we move forward into 2019!

Be PATIENT with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your LOVE. Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the SPIRIT, binding yourselves together with PEACE” ~Ephesians 4:1-3, NLT.
Simple one might think…living the life that God has called you to live (your purpose), exuding humbleness, approaching people gently, practicing patience, establishing love, connecting your physical self to your spiritual self and most importantly; obtaining peace. While these beautiful things may appear to be easy to master, many individuals find them hard to secure, but I always say-things are only as hard as a person makes them. If situations or life’s challenges are approached in a positive manner, the end results are always positive, whereas if hurdles are met in a negative light, the end results will not be pleasing in one’s eyes.
I’d like for you to do just as the title says and DISCOVER YOU!! Take 30 minutes from your day (away from your phone and social media) and devote them to yourself…as you deserve that time. Take that time to relax and enjoy the beautiful life that you have been graced with. Ask yourself, “What can I do to enhance myself so that I can be an uplifting vessel for someone else?” Open this 30 minutes session with your tabula rasa. Take this time to meditate and begin to fill your slate with fresh ideas, themes, visions, goals, and positive plans that will place you on your life’s path of obtaining your ultimate peace. I am most certain that those 30 minutes will lead to 1 hour, that one hour will lead to a day which will lead to weeks, months and then years of you being grateful for the little things and honoring the greater gifts in your life. The simplicity of this time to yourself will allow you to appreciate, each thing that you hear, everything that you feel, and ALL that you can and will SEE…just as it did for me.
The first order of business is to release any unwanted or negative past thoughts or experiences. Things of this nature typically tend to invade our minds and halt us from reaching our pleasant place. Replace those unwanted thoughts and experiences with positive ones. They are unwarranted and have no defined place in your life. This also refers to negative people in your life…release them as well and regain control of your life through positive mental solitude. Try it! I am certain that you will discover yourself in the place where you desire to be. It worked for me and I found myself on an array of beaches throughout the country and abroad, where my feet peacefully touched the sand. My body was at ease; my mind and spirit…at peace…
